How do I onboard a new vehicle or custom asset?
Click "+ Add Asset" on the Garage tab. Select the asset type (Vehicle, Boat, RV, Lawnmower, etc.). Enter the 17-character VIN for vehicles or trailers to auto-populate specifications. If you do not have a VIN, click "Skip Lookup / Add Asset Manually" to input details manually. Note that license plates are hidden for lawn equipment. During configuration, you can enter the most recent service dates and odometer/hour readings to set baseline reminders, or skip this setup to track them later.
How is predictive maintenance calculated?
Our analytics engine tracks your usage logs (odometer or engine hours) over a rolling 30-day period to compute average daily usage. It estimates when scheduled services fall due based on either standard or custom-configured intervals. Services with no recorded history are hidden from display views to keep the dashboard clean. If a service is past its interval but has no history, it is marked as "Due Soon" to trigger notifications without cluttering the UI.
Why are some vehicles tracking in Hours instead of Miles?
Lawnmowers, boats, jet skis, and ATVs/UTVs typically operate based on engine hours instead of road mileage. When onboarding these asset types, MyGarageOS automatically tracks usage metrics in engine hours (hrs) across all vehicle dashboards, logs, and maintenance predictions.
How do I view/edit vehicle details, log maintenance, or manage documents?
Click on the neutral space of any vehicle card to expand the Details Popup modal. Here you can view full specifications, access digital glovebox documents, and check maintenance history. Click "Edit" within the popup to enable inline editing of specifications and tracked service checklists. You can also quickly log maintenance by clicking the "Log Maintenance" outline button directly on the vehicle card.
Can I customize which maintenance services are tracked?
Yes. During configuration or inline editing in the Details Popup, you can toggle standard prefilled services or add custom named services with your own mileage or hours intervals. The system will serialize these as custom service configurations and calculate due dates dynamically.
How do I upload and delete documents in the Digital Glovebox?
Open the vehicle's Details Popup modal, and navigate to the Digital Glovebox section. Managers can upload insurance policies or titles, which can then be viewed in a new tab. If you need to replace a document, click the "Delete" button next to it to clear the record and upload a new file.
How do I log driver profiles and send activation links?
Head of Household (HoH) managers can create driver profiles inside the Profile modal. Upon successful driver creation, a sign-in activation link is generated. Copy this link and send it to the driver. When they open it, they will be prompted to verify their email, set their password, and activate their account.
How do recall notifications and claims work?
MyGarageOS automatically cross-references registered VINs with the official NHTSA Safety Recalls database. If a recall is active, a safety recall warning appears under notifications. You can click on the notification to view the complete campaign details, defect descriptions, and official remedy/claim instructions.
How do I create a shortcut to this website on my phone's home screen?
To add a shortcut to the website on your device's home screen for quick, app-like access:
iOS (Safari): Open the website in Safari, tap the Share button (the square icon with an up arrow) at the bottom or top of the screen, scroll down, and tap Add to Home Screen.
Android (Chrome): Open the website in Chrome, tap the Menu button (three vertical dots) in the top-right corner, and tap Add to Home screen.
How do I quickly mark a predicted service as complete?
If you perform maintenance yourself or at a home garage without booking a scheduled service, you can log it instantly. Click "Mark Complete" next to any predicted service inside the vehicle's Details Popup or the Calendar tab. A quick-complete window will open where you can input the completion date, odometer/hours, parts/labor cost, and service location or notes. Submitting this form records the event as a Maintenance expense and resets the predictive countdown automatically.
What should I do if I enter an incorrect odometer or engine hour reading?
If you log an incorrect value that is lower than a previously saved log (which would suggest the odometer ran backward), the system will warn you. If you need to make a correction to purge incorrect future entries and fix your history, check the "Apply Odometer/Hours Correction Override" option in the warning pop-up. This will purge all incorrect future readings from your log history, keeping your predictive calculations accurate.
How can I save and manage my local mechanics and service locations?
Head of Household (HoH) managers can access the Address Book tab in the sidebar (desktop) or profile menu. Here you can add, view, or delete saved mechanics, auto shops, and service locations. When scheduling a new service appointment, you can select any saved location from the address book dropdown to autofill the location field instantly.
How do I configure my notification preferences?
You can adjust your notifications by selecting the "Notification Preferences" link in the footer of the header's notification bell dropdown. Here, you can toggle alerts for safety recalls, loan payments, upcoming maintenance, and scheduled maintenance. Settings can be saved to customize WebSocket, push, and email dispatch rules.
How do I track company vehicles, business trips, and business expenses?
Managers can enable company vehicle features under the Advanced Details tab of a vehicle's edit menu. Once enabled, you can designate a vehicle as a company vehicle, track loan payment schedules, and log business trips (including purpose, driver, and distance). The Financials page will also render a Trip History log and allow filtering CSV exports to include company charges only. If no company vehicles exist, these options are hidden automatically.

3. Third-Party Services & Reliability
Recall updates are queried from the public NHTSA database. Uploaded documents (insurance cards, titles, receipts) are stored using secure third-party storage (Amazon S3). Voice command recognition utilizes standard browser Web Speech APIs. MyGarageOS is not responsible for outages, inaccuracies, or data access failures resulting from government channels or third-party cloud services.

Privacy Policy
Your privacy is important to us. This privacy policy explains how MyGarageOS processes and protects your household vehicle data:
1. Information Collection & Document Uploads
We collect driver registration details (names, emails, optional phones), vehicle specifications (VIN, make, model, type, state), and usage logs (odometer entries, expense items, receipts, trip data). We also support the upload of vehicle documents (insurance coverage proofs, titles, receipts), which are processed and stored securely (including cloud storage S3 fallbacks).
2. Information Usage
Collected details are stored in a secure database environment and used strictly to offer maintenance predictions, trigger safety notifications, and render financial logs.
3. Data Deletion & Self-Account Deletion
When a vehicle or driver profile is deleted, all referenced logs (expenses, notifications, push subscriptions, mileage records, calendar appointments) are permanently cleared from the active database. Additionally, we support **Self-Account Deletion** for both Manager and Driver profiles. Toggling self-deletion permanently deletes the account profile, associated logs, driver lists, vehicles, and uploaded glovebox files, immediately removing all data from our active databases and storage.
